Meet Arielle Estoria: The Muse Behind Our New Collection | GLDN
Who is Arielle Estoria?
If there were two words to describe poet, author, actor and artist Arielle Estoria, they’d be magic incarnate. Her work centers around empowering, encouraging and making spaces for women to feel at home in their own bodies through spoken word pieces, workshops, keynote talks and, of course, her empowering writing work—from her self-published collections of poetry to her book, The Unfolding: An Invitation to Come Home to Yourself.
In Arielle’s own words, she says: “I am one third poet, I am two thirds perfectionist. I am chaotic, frazzled and indecisive. I can be moody and hypocritical, negative and self-deprecating. I advocate for the beauty and importance of everyone else, and I sometimes deny my own. I often think I won’t measure up, won’t achieve any other level of success. Most days I feel like a fraud. Like people will look behind my curtain and find a mess of a woman.
“I am becoming, slowly unwinding into who I I’ve always meant to be, like meeting a distant and yet longed-for piece of you that’s reminded you of home. I am home.”
After learning about Arielle, basking in her light and getting to know her inspiring, honest and refreshing take on life and magic and becoming your truest self, we thought: who better to design a collection with than her? So we got to work turning Arielle’s concept of magic into jewelry that reminds you of the magic you carry, too.
Arielle’s Concept of Magic
According to Arielle, the collection was inspired by “the idea of magic that you see sprinkled everywhere—whether it be the little stars that you see on the pieces or the poem on your [tote] bags. This idea of magic and this concept of magic was just something I started telling people that they are, and that they hold, and that they carry. There’s magic in your bones. There’s magic in your eyes. There’s magic swimming all around, in your mind, there’s magic in you. There’s magic in me. There’s magic in us, if only we believe.
“I still believe in magic; hope that it’s tucked in the wings of a butterfly or maybe in the dimples of a really chunky baby or the colors of a sunset or the way that he looks at me, and they may call me something like ‘foolish.’ Thirty-two years old and still believing in magic, but what if the thing we are most afraid of is not that it doesn’t exist, but that it’s lived inside of us all this time and we called it foolish. Okay, well, then call me foolish. Because I can see it swimming in my veins and every time I take a breath—magic tucked into my very existence—so much so that these words are sometimes the most necessary healing I’ve come to know. So, call us foolish. Because I can see it swimming in your veins. And every time you take a breath, magic tucked into your very existence, so much so that your breath is a miracle. And you are a miracle.
“And this idea of magic, it’s not just like ‘Oh, that would be cute for jewelry!’ It’s very embedded into how I operate, how I communicate, how I interact with people.
“I was walking one time and almost got attacked by a butterfly. No, seriously—like I almost got attacked by a butterfly. It flew right past my face, and it was almost as if I could hear it say “Did you see all of this? Are you here? Are you paying attention? Have you noticed the sun today? Are you living? Are you breathing? Are you where your feet are? Are you paying attention to all the beautiful things around you? And is there any inkling that you believe that you are one of them too?”
Jewelry for the Dreamers
Co-designed with our founder, Chrissy, the Arielle Estoria x GLDN Cosmic Collection was heavily influenced by Arielle’s work and centered her values: that you are enough, that you deserve to take up space, that you are made of magic.
In one of Arielle’s readings to celebrate the new collection, she says, “This is for the dreamers who skip rocks on clouds, even when people keep telling them to come down. This is for the hopeless romantics who are more than open wounds or open books—they are pop-up shops of love leaving letters in glass bottles and kissing them to shore. This is for the wild ones, too haunted by rejection to admit that they are wild. You are stampedes of freedom that everyone else is afraid of. You are proof that this world is not in need of any more normal. Yes, this is for the girls searching for beauty in cracked mirrors. There is no wholeness there. Yes, this is for the wallflowers. Baby, it’s time to peel your back off that wall and dance. Do not be afraid of the way that your feet will take you somewhere new, somewhere new is not always terrifying. Sometimes it is necessary. Yes, this is for the way the wave always comes back. And the storm always calms. This is for the superman capes that we’ve buried. For the words that we have not yet let bloom. For the people who are only a smile away from being family. This is for time, the way it ebbs and flows around us. Daring us to blink. Slipping through our fingers like sand. And this is for the way the wave always comes back, and the storm always calms. This one—this right here—this is for you. Your love letter in your glass bottle on your shore: open it. I hope you read in big, bold letters: you are enough.”
Spotlight On: Cosmic Unfolding Book Charm
Though all four pieces—set with starry white sapphires brimming with magic—celebrate Arielle and serve as a source of daily inspiration, this tiny book charm may be the most special of all.
She says, “If you look on the back of the book, it says you are magic. Because I want that to be something that you literally keep close to your heart, and keep close to your chest. Not just as something you wear because it’s cute, but something you wear as a physical reminder that you are enough. That you have always been enough.”
We can’t thank Arielle enough for partnering with us on this collection! We hope these pieces find a special home in your collection and you never forget how worthy you are.
