What is lapis? How do I care for it?

Lapis (or lapis lazuli) is a natural deep-blue semi-precious stone. We recommend avoiding extreme heat, harsh chemicals (like cleaning supplies or perfumes) and submerging your piece in water. To be safe, remove before showing or swimming, and simply wipe with a gentle cloth if it ever needs a clean.

    lapis dull and black

    I was eagerly awaiting this necklace as I really wanted a necklace with a blue stone. I love the chain and the setting but the lapis is black and looks like onyx. I reached out to customer service and they said I cannot return it for one that is blue even though all the photos show the lapis being blue. You can see in the attached photo that the stone is black. Extremely disappointing.
